Who can participate?

The NUPL Summer Reading Program is open to anyone from ages 1 to 12 who wants to read and have fun. The goal for successful completion of this program is for each participant to read for at least 30 minutes (or be read to for about 20 minutes) on 25 different days between June 9 and July 31.

Participating is easy. Here’s how:

STEP 1.
Come to the Library and fill out a registration card. You will receive a "Paws to Read" game sheet.

STEP 2.
For each day that you read for at least 30 minutes (or listen to someone read to you for about 20 minutes), color in a numbered square on your game sheet.

STEP 3.
After coloring five squares on your game sheet, bring your game sheet back to the library where there is a special game and prize waiting for you.

STEP 4.
For an extra reading challenge, continue on the challenge game path to earn a bonus prize and be named a "Paws-itively Purr-fect" Summer Reader.

STEP 5. When you have reached the 25-day goal, you will become eligible to enter our drawing to win one of 10 grand prizes. To qualify for a grand prize, you must complete the summer reading program by noon on Thursday, July 31. Grand prize winners will be notified by phone.

Major funding for the 2014 Summer Reading Program has been provided by the Friends of the New Ulm Public Library, a donation from 3M of New Ulm, and grants from the Traverse des Sioux Library Cooperative through the Arts & Cultural Heritage Fund.
