Library users with properly configured laptops. Be

Wireless Policy
"New Ulm Public Library offers wireless Internet access. You
don't need a plug or phone jack, just turn on your
notebook/laptop computer or other wireless device and start
surfing.
You will need a notebook/laptop computer or other wireless
device with 802.11b or 802.11g wireless networking.
Library staff is not able to provide technical assistance
and no guarantee can be made that you will be able to make a
wireless connection. If you are not sure if your
notebook/laptop computer or other device has this
functionality, please check with the manufacturer or
supplier of your equipment or local technology merchants.
They will help you make the correct setting or find the
right product for your laptop or other device.
We have tried to make wireless access as available as
possible in our libraries, but you may encounter some "dead"
spots in a library where wireless reception may be limited.
If you have trouble accessing the Internet or staying online
please move to a different location within the library.
Printers are not available via the wireless connection. If a
user needs to print a document, they should save their work
to a portable device (e.g. disc) or wait to print a document
on a home printer.
As with most public wireless “hot spot,” the library’s
wireless connection is not secure. Information sent to and
from your notebook/laptop computer or other wireless device
may be captured by anyone else with a wireless device and
the appropriate software. Cautious and informed wireless
access users should have up to date virus protection on
their personal laptop computer or wireless device.
The New Ulm Public Library Internet Policy governs use of
these access points. All users are expected to use the
library’s wireless access in a legal and responsible manner,
consistent with the educational and informational purposes
for which it is provided. Users should not violate federal
or state laws."
